to find amusement or pleasure in something

We have all types of laughs– snickers, belly laughs, laugh-til-you-cry laughs, and knee slappers to name a few. Don’t you just love to laugh?! The body feels so good and for that moment the mind is at peace and our sense of humor is left giggling away!! It’s glorious! Laughing is contagious and it spreads joy and connections. It makes us feel a sense of belonging and being understood. Of course there is the ugly kind, of laughing at someone to make them feel small, but that’s not the kind of laughing we are discussing today.

Remember any of the bold items below are great journal prompts to gain some clarity.

Physical Spaces– The physical things you surround yourself with are very important to your overall state of happiness. For some, things serve only a utilitarian purpose, but I would guess for most people, it is pleasant to have some items in your home that you totally adore and that make you smile every time you see them. Maybe it’s a fun photo of a family vacation that brings back an amusing moment that always makes you laugh. These types of items can be very integral in making a house feel like a home.

What items do you have in your home that bring you so much joy it makes you laugh or smile?

For me, it’s the “funny” family photo we would take after the “say cheese” photo. I keep these “funny” photos displayed in my office and I just love to see the cuteness of everyone with such a genuine smile acting silly. And, I also love to see the additions of all the little ones.

What could you add to your home that would bring you laughter and smiles?

Relationships–  Laughing together is one of the most bonding experiences you can have with someone else. Why? In this quick read from Scientific America, “laughter with friends releases endorphins, the brain’s “feel-good” chemicals.” These chemicals boost mood in the same way you might feel better after a workout or run. So, think about the people you love to spend time with. There is a really good chance those people are the same ones you most often laugh with.

Who do you laugh with the most?

What makes them or the things you do together so enjoyable and funny?

Final Thoughts on Laughing

Even though things are incredibly hard right now, I hope you can find some time to laugh every day this week. Look for it. Spend a few minutes on YouTube watching funny animal videos. I have found they always provide a laugh. And if that doesn’t do the trick, you can always try some laughing yoga. (it looks absurd and silly, but it will get your laughing juices going…haha…hehe…hihi…hoho…huhu…)

Take care of yourself and happy laughing! ;-D

What a great topic…We bought a picture frame that allows you to record a message on it. But instead of a message, we would record a few seconds of our little ones when they had just learned how to really laugh out loud as a baby. Makes me smile every time I push the play button 🙂

I ADORE this idea! How wonderful that you have captured such moments as your babies’ laughs so you can replay them anytime! There may be nothing more contagious that a baby’s laugh!! Thank you for sharing this😁
