All of our things and thoughts effect our energy, whether it’s depleting or invigorating. Our choices, or lack of, will directly effect our energy levels. When we make lots of decisions in a day, we are affected and usually feel less energized. This doesn’t mean you are weak, it serves as a reminder that we need to be thoughtful about where we expend our energy.
Physical Spaces– Energy is one of the most important things to think about when designing and deciding on your things. Each item carries some amount of energy in your mind, whether you consciously notice it our not. This is why decluttering or tidying up can create energy and mental relief. You get the joy of accomplishing something you have been ignoring, feel successful and love the thing you have. It’s powerful to have a functional, tidy, aesthetically appealing space to live or work in. Creating a space that fills you with energy and doesn’t deplete you is important to effective work and overall happiness.
Mental Space– The way you think about yourself changes your energy levels, which in turn changes the decisions you make. If you are feeling low, you will probably not make healthy food choices or keep your workout routine. Making the decision in these lower energy states, can sometimes just be asking too much of yourself. That’s okay.
The power is in knowing this before you get in a lower energy state and setting yourself up to win and follow through. This is when pre-making the decision is so important to following through and ultimately determining your success.
It doesn’t matter what state you are in at the end of the day. You already decided days ago, it was in your best interest.
Since you already made the decision to do it, when the time comes, there is no internal discussion about it.
Take the drama out of the decisions.
There will be resistance, but just say hello to it and follow through.
Relationships– Everyone knows that the people you choose to spend time with directly affects your outlook, your thoughts, and your energy levels. Sometime you spend time around someone you “should”, and afterward you feel depleted.
I’m not saying you can always get out of spending time with someone, but you can protect your energetic levels by not participating in their draining conversations, or negativity or complaining.
This takes some practice, but it is definitely possible to create a protective energy bubble around yourself.
And I’m sure you have some people that you just feel drawn toward. You are re-energized when you get to hang out with them or talk to them.
Just know you get to decide who you contact more and put energy toward.
You get to decide how to create changes in your habits and thinking to be conscious about where you put your energy and who you share your energy with.
Keep working on building better, more conscious relationships.
Final Thoughts on Energy
This week spend some time thinking about your energy levels and see if it’s tied to your decisions or a particular room or even a person you see regularly. What do you put your energy toward? Do you like the results you get in your life from the energy you spent?
